The Things Indoor Gateway is a cost-effective and simple gateway with WLAN uplink. It was designed for the quick setup or expansion of a LoRaWAN network indoors and is also very well suited for home users due to the easy commissioning. It is one of the first gateways to use the Basic Station protocol and is pre-configured for The Things Network backend (TTN).

Usually this is not a problem inside buildings, so the gateway can be placed in a room where it has access to a network connection. However, the connection quality between the gateway and the sensor depends on factors such as the condition of the walls, similar to a normal WLAN, and varies from case to case.
