E-world: Alpha-Omega Technology and Partners Present Products and Trends from the LoRaWAN World

Together with Comtac, Kerlink and SmartInfra, the IoT company Alpha-Omega Technology presents sensors, gateways and installations for the LoRaWAN IoT in the Smart Energy area of E-world / expert talk "Fundamentals for Smart City Applications"

Schimberg and Berlin, 10 May 2022: Alpha-Omega Technology GmbH & Co. KG, expert in LPWAN products, will be present from 21 to 23 June together with its partners Comtac AG, Kerlink SA and SmartInfra GmbH at E-world energy & water, the leading trade fair of the European energy industry. At the 60 square metre joint stand 5-320, visitors can expect a wide selection of products and demo setups from the fields of sensors, gateways and installation. On show is classic hardware such as CO2 sensors and modules with RS232 to LoRaWAN interfaces, but also special sensors such as an all-in-one LoRaWAN weather station, a timer controller for intelligent street lighting and a PC with a fully integrated IoT edge platform for industrial use. The latest trends from the LoRaWAN world include multi-sensors with a direct display on an e-ink screen and Helium hotspots. How small municipalities in particular benefit from an IoT with LPWAN technologies is explained by Jan Bose, managing director of Alpha-Omega Technology, in a talk at the Infrastructure Forum of E-world.

Alpha-Omega Technology is an expert in IoT infrastructures and, with iot-shop.de , has been running the largest online shop for LPWAN products in the German-speaking region from Thuringia for more than five years. Since April this year, the company has also been offering products for the globally emerging Helium network at Helium-Shop.eu . With its interdisciplinary approach, Alpha-Omega Technology advises its customers on implementing IoT projects and selecting sensors. "This year, trade fair visitors will see not only a wide selection of IoT products at our stand but also various demo setups. We show classic hardware as well as sensors for special applications, and together with our partners we cover the entire chain of sensor, gateway and installation," says Jan Bose, managing director of Alpha-Omega Technology.

The highlights among the exhibits include a PC equipped with the IoT-Edge-Plattform Bitmotecosystem , with Node-RED, MQTT, OPC UA, MTConnect and Modbus for the requirements of Industry 4.0. The wireless all-in-one weather station Barani Design MeteoHelix IoT Pro collects data on local weather conditions with an accuracy that meets the standards of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Also on display is the Clever City GreenBox Compact 3 timer. With the increasing use of smart meters, the use of ripple control (TRA), which often also controls street lighting, is declining. The GreenBox offers a cost-efficient alternative.

Sensors from Comtac
The Swiss IoT system supplier Comtac AG shows sensors such as the Cluey Controller KM, a configurable controller and monitor for monitoring and control tasks in electricity, water and other infrastructure networks. Also on show is the reader for electricity and gas meters KLAX. The sensor is a communication module with an optical head that attaches directly to the meter with its integrated magnet. At the beginning of 2019, KLAX came onto the market as the first sensorable to continuously capture values via the optical interfaces of modern meters and transmit them via LoRaWAN. Alpha-Omega Technology developed and manufactured the module together with Comtac and ZENNER IoT Solutions.

Gateways from Kerlink
The French specialist for IoT network infrastructure solutions Kerlink SA is known for its high-quality gateways. On show is Kerlink's outdoor gateway iStation. The gateway comes with 4G connectivity and has integrated internal antennas for GPS, 4G and LoRaWAN. The device can be used in areas such as smart city, smart industry, smart metering, smart agriculture and smart environment. The company contributes not only LoRaWAN gateways to the joint stand but also presents the Wanesy gateway management system, which makes it possible to manage large networks with many gateways efficiently.

Installation by SmartInfra
SmartInfra, based in Germany, combines decades of experience in building and operating public infrastructure with know-how in IoT solutions for energy utilities and multi-utility municipal companies. The company offers an open system with turnkey end-to-end solutions on the way to the smart city. At E-world, SmartInfra shows how municipal infrastructures can be networked, controlled digitally and mapped in an integrated system using new radio technologies such as LoRaWAN or NB-IoT and plug-and-play applications.

Expert talk: "Fundamentals for Smart City Applications"
How small municipalities in particular benefit from smart solutions with LPWAN technologies is explained by Jan Bose, managing director of Alpha-Omega Technology, at the Infrastructure Forum of E-world in the topic block "Fundamentals for Smart City Applications". Participation is free of charge for trade fair visitors. "The enormous advantage that remote monitoring and control of infrastructure brings to small municipalities is obvious: faulty street lights are noticed within minutes and current water levels are publicly visible," says Jan Bose. In addition to reliable technology, aspects such as data protection and the opinion of residents are decisive for successfully establishing an IoT project: minimal data volumes ensure low power consumption and, at the same time, a high level of data protection, because only the data that is strictly necessary is used.
