Time and again, service technicians are faced with the problem that a portable fire extinguisher has been tampered with or activated without anyone ever noticing. A portable fire extinguisher is rather inconspicuous in everyday life and it is not immediately recognizable whether a device has been activated. It is possible that a device stands empty for several months, without pressure or extinguishing agent. Only the service technician notices this when servicing the equipment after several months. In terms of immediate action, this condition of the devices could be fatal. Especially in public areas, where thousands of people move every day, this can be a problem. For this reason, we have worked with our partners to find a safer solution so that hand-held fire extinguishers are always ready for use. If the fire extinguisher is tampered with and the safety splint is removed, a message is automatically sent over LoRaWAN. Based on the message via the LoRaWAN network, we can react immediately and have the device checked or repaired by our service technicians. It is checked whether the message should be sent directly to the fire department, so that they can also react in case of emergency.
