This month we are not presenting a single product, but the Decentlab winter service sensors. The three LoRaWAN sensors show where and when a roadway becomes slippery, thus replacing the nighttime inspection drive. The DL-SFV-001 detects without contact whether the roadway is dry, damp, wet, snowy, or icy. Additionally, it measures friction value, ice thickness, and surface temperature (±0.3 °C). The battery-operated DL-CWS2-001 captures roadway temperature, air humidity, and dew point and is the economical entry point for many measurement points. The weather station DL-ATM41-G2 adds eleven measurement parameters, including precipitation, wind, and solar radiation. The sensors are mounted on the mast, the roadway remains untouched and does not need to be milled or closed. During a winter service inspection drive, a driver only sees the one spot where they currently are. In contrast, the sensors continuously measure at every critical point, such as on bridges, in depressions, and on north-facing slopes. Each value is stored with a timestamp, and spreading occurs only where a measurement value justifies it. The combination is in use in Gütersloh, with the DL-CWS2 additionally at over 130 locations in the Hof district.
